Your Trade Sets Your Price

Two Georgia businesses with the same revenue pay different insurance premiums. A plumbing contractor and an accounting office both bill $600,000 per year. The plumber pays more. The reason is exposure, not revenue.

Insurance carriers assign every business a class code. That code describes what your employees do and where they do it. The code drives your workers compensation rate, your general liability rate, and whether a carrier will write your account at all.

An agent who quotes your business without asking about your trade is guessing. We start with your class code.

The Three Policies Most Georgia Businesses Carry

General Liability (GL) pays for injury or property damage you cause to someone else. A customer trips in your shop. Your crew cracks a homeowner’s tile floor. GL responds.

Workers Compensation (WC) pays medical costs and lost wages when an employee is injured at work. Georgia law requires WC coverage once you employ three or more employees.

Commercial Auto covers vehicles your business owns or uses. A personal auto policy excludes business use. If your truck carries tools to a job site, your personal policy will not respond to a claim.

Many businesses also need additional policies. Contractors carry tools, equipment, and installation materials that none of the three policies above cover. That coverage is called inland marine. We find this gap on most contractor policies we review. Other businesses that have commercial real estate need to insure their buildings and improvements. Businesses that keep large stores of digital records need cyber. We have markets for all of these.

Certificates of Insurance

A certificate of insurance proves you carry coverage. General contractors, property managers, and commercial landlords request one before you start work. The certificate must show specific limits, and often, specific endorsement, terms, and conditions. A general contractor who requires $1,000,000 per occurrence will reject a certificate showing $500,000. You lose the job while your agent rewrites the policy. We ask what your customers require before we quote. That prevents a mid-year endorsement and a delayed start date.

Why an Independent Agency

We are an independent insurance agency. We hold appointments with multiple carriers and we place your account with the one whose underwriting rules fit your operation.

A carrier that declines a plumbing contractor for excavation work may write a janitorial company without hesitation. A carrier that welcomes medical offices may surcharge a roofing contractor. We know which door to knock on before we submit your application.

We serve Georgia businesses from three offices: Woodstock, Canton, and Warner Robins.
